SAHBA is Arizona's newest
Super-PAC, one of only four industry-related associations with this
status in the state. Most of the other 18 organizations are in the
fields of education, healthcare and government. Thanks mostly to the efforts of Carl Schroeder, Kadon Land Company, members of the SAHBA Political Action Committee collected over 500 individual donations of at least $10 in the last few months. With this achievement, the SAHBA Political Action Committee is now able to donate up to five times more money to candidates and issues than regular PACs. "The drive for Super PAC status was done to provide more financial support to elected officials who support SAHBA's pro-business agenda, which is to protect jobs in the housing industry," said Schroeder, who spoke to an estimated 1,000 members at job sites and their places of work. "Many of the people who heard me went back to their companies and enlisted more people to donate."
Everyone in the industry
benefits from SAHBA having Super-PAC status. Schroeder poses the
question, "When a new home is built does your business benefit? Of
course. That is the bottom line."
SAHBA will retain Super PAC
status for two years. Other key "activists" who recruited contributors
were Mike Bolchalk, Michael Bolchalk Marketing; Tim Burns, Whitney Burns Shutters; and John
Bremond and John Sparks, KB Home. Government Liaison Jon Sams worked
with Carl to coordinate this project. |
